Text in Form ______DAY 2

I've been researching my initial idea. Whilst thinking about "natures brutality" I remembered another quote that I had liked from the book;

"Heaven knows we need never be ashamed of our tears, for they are rain upon the blinding dust of earth, overlying our hard hearts."

So with this now in mind I have thought about TEARS - RAIN - EROSION. I feel that the choice of rain as the brutality of nature linked in nicely with this new quote. Also, I like the exposing of layers that rain erosion causes and feel this replicates the layers of book very effectively. 

Currently I am attempting to create a layered erosion effect within my sketch book. It is taking some time but is starting to look the part.
